Sage 300cloud Web Screen Improvements

This release comprises the option to install Sage 300cloud web screens, these are modernized versions of Sage 300 screens that the user can utilize in a web browser.

Web screens usually run in parallel with Sage 300 desktop screens, hence there is no need to select between the desktop or the web. Everyone within your organization can utilize the interface that is best suited to their needs. This can be done while working smoothly with a single shared set of company data.

  • Current Project and Job Costing web screens: The release comprises the following new web screens for Project and Job Costing:
    • The Equipment Usage: Use the PJC Equipment Usage screen to record the use of equipment that is owned by you.
    • The Adjustments: To Use the PJC Adjustments screen to adjust or transfer: equipment usage, timecard, material usage, material return, cost, or charge transactions that the user has posted within the Project and Job Costing.
    • The Timecards: To Use the PJC Timecards screen to enter timecards for employees, this is how you can charge the job-related labor costs over to the required projects.
    • The Transaction History: To be able to Use the PJC Transaction History screen to view the details for those transactions that have been posted in Project and Job Costing and job-related transactions in other Sage 300 programs.
    • The Transaction History Report: This is the report that offers a printed listing of transactions that are to be displayed within the Transaction History screen. With this advantage, you can also print the report for a selected range of contracts, projects, cost classes, categories, customers, contract status, and project status.
  • To Enter job-related documents in Purchase Order: The user can now enter and work with the job-related documents on all P/O web screens:

      • Purchase Order Entry
      • Invoice Entry
      • Return Entry
      • Copy Purchase Orders
      • Requisition Entry
      • Credit/Debit Note Entry
      • Receipt Entry
    • The PO Analytical Reports
      • The Transaction List: the added Job-Related checkbox
      • The Purchase Order Action Report – this is added to the Job-Related checkbox
      • The Purchase History Report – this is added Job-Related checkbox
      • The Posting Journals –this added Job-Related checkbox
    • PO Statistics and Inquiries
      • The PO Purchase History – This is added to the job columns within the Purchase History Detail
      • The PO Pending Receipts Inquiry – This is added to the job columns within the PO Pending Receipts Details screen
    • PO Statistics and Inquiries
      • The PO Purchase History – This is added to the job columns within the Purchase History Detail
      • The PO Pending Receipts Inquiry – This is added to the job columns within the PO Pending Receipts Details screen
    • PO Create Purchase Orders – To be able to Create Pos from Requisitions – this is added to the Job-Related checkbox
    • The Setup – The Optional Fields –this is the added Job Related settings

Financial Report for the Web

What is the Financial Report for the Web? Sage 300 Financial Reporter for the Web is a web-based tool that is used to manipulate, graph, format, and print the general ledger (GL) data. Here, the Financial Reporter for the Web uses Microsoft Excel to be able to create financial statements and statement specifications that can display data from Sage 300 General Ledger.

Note: Sage Intelligence Report Cloud (SIRC) is what has been deprecated with the introduction of Financial Reporter for the Web.

Compliance – IRAS ASR Tier 2 (Singapore Tax Report Direct Submission)

Now, Available on Sage 300 web screen only, this is a unique feature that is an enhancement from the existing Tax Singapore (TS) module. It has been specifically designed to report GST Taxes for form 5 and form 8 (F5 and F8) digitally through the IRAS (Government) server website.

Direct API Bank Feeds

This feature allows you to access Direct API bank feeds as added by Sage Service Fabric. For Example, the Bank of America CashPro bank feed.

Additional Web APIs

The additional web APIs include UP employee, CP employee, and IC Item location details.

Global Search

The Global Search feature is also now available within the 2024.0 release. This feature was not previously available in the product updates 2023.2 or 2023.3.

NOTE: The user needs to sign into Database Setup on every Sage 300 server machine by using the Global Search.

The Sage 300 2024 Program Fixes

Sage 300 2024 comprises program fixes for some problems that exist in the most recent previous version, which is the Sage 300 2023 Product Update 3. Following are the sections that describe these program fixes:

General information

  • Sage 300 2024 supports the upgrades only from version 5.6 or beyond.
  • If you are using a workstation setup, you also need to run Sage 300 Intelligence Reporting workstation setup. This is located in BX66A\WSSetup within every workstation where you will view and use Intelligence Reporting screens.
  • Sage 300 2024 supports the upgrades only from version 5.6 or beyond.
  • If you are using a workstation setup, you need to also run Sage 300 Intelligence Reporting workstation setup, this is located in BX66A\WSSetup, within every workstation where you can view and use Intelligence Reporting screens.
  • You also require version 2024, which is internally versioned as 7.1A of all core programs that you are planning to use. In case you are using Canadian Payroll or US Payroll, you will need version 7.3 of these programs with the most current tax updates.
  • Note: The tax tables for version 7.3 will now be available until March 2024. After this, the date tax tables and support will only be available for Payroll version 8.0.
  • In case you are upgrading from a previous version, you need to upgrade all Sage 300 programs to 2024 simultaneously. Sage 300 2024 programs will not operate with programs from the previous versions.
  • If you own a subscription license, you do not need to enter serial numbers and activation keys for the individual Sage 300 applications. When the License Manager appears during the process of installation, the only license information you require to enter is your Client ID, Company Name, and Serial Number. After you have entered all these details, you can make sure that you have the required internet access, and then click Refresh to verify the subscription.
  • In case you do not have the following programs, that are required to use Sage 300, then they can be installed along with Sage 300:
    • MSXML (Microsoft XML Core Services) 6.0
    • Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 12.0
    • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8.2
  • Sage 300 2024 also comprises SP34 for the SAP Crystal Reports runtime engine. If you are using the Sage HRMS or Sage Fixed Assets integrated along with Sage 300, you need to refer to the Sage 300 2024 Compatibility Guide for updated information on compatibility with Sage HRMS and Sage Fixed Assets.

Known Issues

  • When the user is utilizing the Notes screen on the Sage 300 classic desktop:
    • When you need to add or edit a note, the text editing area and toolbar will appear only if you have enabled the active scripting and scripting of Java applets in Internet Explorer security settings. 
    • The Notes screen will not appear correctly if you use the Medium -125% display size. This is specified within the Windows control panel. 
    • When the user is trying to preview the reports on the web screens, the details in some reports are not aligned correctly. To work around this issue, you need to export the report to PDF format. 
    • There are certain fields, where Chinese language characters cannot be entered.
    • There are also Printing issues with Sage Fixed Assets Integration (FAS). Hence Reporting to print in both FAS and Sage 300 will not work after the process of installation of FAS Integration. To work around this issue, you need to restore a Crystal runtime dll.

Installing Sage 300

Installing Product Updates

After the process of installing a product update:

  • If you use Sage 300cloud web screens, you need to use Database Setup to configure the Portal database once again.
  • If you are using the Sage CRM integrated with Sage 300, you need to upgrade your CRM integration as follows:
    • Start by Installing the Sage CRM integration for Sage 300.
    • You need to Uninstall and then reinstall the Sage CRM Synchronization Component. Also, the Use of the Sage CRM Workstation Setup screen in Sage 300 to install the Sage CRM Synchronization Component.
  • If you are using the Sage Intelligence Reporting Cloud, you need to customize some Sage 300 program files. After this, you need to reset IIS. 
  • The user should also clear the browser’s cache. This is because some fixes included in the update may not take effect until you do.

Removing Sage 300

Before you remove the Sage 300, you need to:

  • Shut all the instances of the Sage 300 Desktop.
  • Shut all applications that integrate with Sage 300.
  • Next, Stop all Sage 300 services that are running, these include Sage 300.CNA.Windows Service.

To remove Sage 300 2024 Programs:

  • Go to the Windows’ Control Panel, next click Programs And Features.
  • Now Open Uninstall Or Change A Program, and then:
    • To remove all Sage 300 programs, you need to double-click Sage 300 2024.
    • To remove individual Sage 300 programs:
      • Start by Clicking the Sage 300 2024, and next click Change. Be sure to not double-click Sage 300 2024.
      • Now Click Modify, and next use the Select Features screen to select the programs you wish to install and clear the selections for programs you wish to remove.

Sage 300 Payroll

The latest version, Sage 300 2024 also comprises Canadian and US Payroll. 

Note: However, the Canadian and US Payroll may not be available in all regions.

Sage 300 Intelligence Reporting

Sage 300 2024 also comprises Sage 300 Intelligence Reporting. 

Known issues

  • In case you have multiple versions of Microsoft Excel installed, you might need to manually load the Report Designer Task Pane Excel Add-in.
  • In case you are using exclusions in account and row set rules, the exclusion accounts can appear when you drill down to balance.
  • In case the Sage 300 Intelligence Reporting has been installed by a user other than you, for example, an administrator, you need to open Microsoft Excel before running reports in Report Viewer or Report Manager.
  • Within the Report Viewer, an “Open File – Security Warning” message will appear for every report you view. This message needs to only appear once when you first open the Report Viewer.
  • In case you use Microsoft Excel 2013, and you get to save a report template in Report Manager using Save Excel Template:
    • Once you run the report in Excel, an “External Data” message will be displayed. The user needs to proceed by clicking Yes.
    • In case the report template has a timeline, the timeline will not retain its filters.
